Packaging Style

There are 3 main stand up pouch styles: 1. Doyen (also called Round Bottom or Doypack) 2. K-Seal 3. Corner Bottom (also called Plow (Plough) Bottom or Folded Bottom) With these 3 styles, the gusset or bottom of the bag is where the main differences lie.

The flat bottom bag is a flexible box style pouch, that uses less film and has holds more volume than a traditional stand up bag.

Side gusset bags and pouches are less box-shaped, which means they usually take up less space on the shelf. Some would argue, however, that side gusset bags are less aesthetically pleasing as a shelf display. But overall, side gusset bags still provide plenty of canvas space for displaying and marketing your brand – it mostly comes down to personal preference.

A retort pouch is commonly defined as a flexible pouch for low-acid foods that are thermally processed in a pressure vessel, often called a "retort." The pouch is made of layered polyester, aluminum foil, and polypropylene.
